Message from the Chairman
Welcome to BONC
Founded in 2004, BONC began with a simple aim — to bring people together and support the Nepalese community in Barnet. Today, we’ve grown into a space where everyone can connect, feel welcome, and be part of something meaningful.
We celebrate our culture and traditions while building an inclusive community for all. From shared meals to yoga, sports, and wellbeing sessions, everything we do is about supporting one another and reducing isolation.
Our strength comes from our people, and we are proud to be supported by local councillors who help us represent and serve our community.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community. We’re also pleased to share our tri-annual newsletter, highlighting what we’ve achieved over the past quarter.

We carry out the following work:
1. Strengthening Community and Culture
Cultural Celebrations: We host community events, such as Dashain, the Nepali New Year, and Summer Gatherings. These events are open to all and help preserve Nepali traditions while bringing together people from different backgrounds to promote social cohesion in Barnet.
Language Education: We facilitate Nepali language classes by providing the venue, administrative support, and necessary resources to ensure the language is passed on to the next generation.
Music Heritage: We provide Nepali music lessons for both children and adults, helping to maintain traditional instruments and songs within the community.
2. Promoting Health and Wellbeing
Wonderful Wednesday Hub: We run a regular community drop-in session at the Watling Community Centre. This provides a space for social interaction to combat loneliness, alongside a free healthy hot meal for all attendees to support those facing isolation or food insecurity.
Physical Activity: We provide Yoga and Zumba classes to help residents stay active, improve their physical fitness, and support their mental health in a friendly environment.
Emergency Skills: Our volunteer health professionals (Doctors and Nurses) lead Basic Life Support and CPR sessions in various community spaces, giving local people the confidence and skills to save lives in an emergency.
3. Environmental Protection
Community Stewardship: Our volunteers take part in regular park clean-up sessions in our local green spaces. This hands-on work improves the natural environment for everyone in the borough and encourages residents to take pride in their local surroundings.
